I found this today, (they did this last year too actually that's the one I linked here)

And it got me to thinking about American Food. Now, meat loaf and fried chicken have to be on the list of american classics and with good reason. Biscuits, taters, maybe some veggies like corn on the cob and that's an all american meal! But the more I've thought about it over time, the more I've come up with the same conclusion. There is nothing more American than BBQ! [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] Sure, there are litertally thousands of BBQ sauce recipes and BBQ itself varies from region to region, but it's still BBQ. Nothing says Americana like a fired up grill on the 4th of july. Chicken, Ribs, Beef, Pork, chops, burgers, dogs, brats, mets... just about everything American can be grilled and BBQ'd. The BBQ grill is often almost a status symbol to many. When one of the neighbors gets a new gas grill with all the bells and whistles, it's sure to be nnoticed and admired. The pride on the owners face as he presents his grilled masterpieces to family and friends is a complete look of achievement and bliss. Yes, a cold beer in one hand (or drink of choise) and a foot and half long spatula or pair of tongs in the other, the apron clad weekend warrior griller may be the truest symbol of American cooking there is. So, if your grilling out this 4th of july weekend, keep in mind that you are celebrating the birth of this nation by taking part in one of it's greatest traditions and quite possibly it's greatest culinary achievment.

Happy fourth, everyone!
Can't wait to dig into grilled fish & chicken later, and especially the scallops!
